Stretched Power

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! WE PRAY FOR THOSE THAT SACRIFICE FOR OUR FREEDOM!

Luke 24:45-48 (NLT)
Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.
And he said, “Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would
suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day.
It was also written that this message would be proclaimed
in the authority of his name to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem:
‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’
You are witnesses of all these things.

Luke 24:49 (NLT)
“And now I will send the Holy Spirit,
just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city
until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.”

Acts 1:4-5 (NLT)
Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them,
“Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you
the gift he promised, as I told you before.
John baptized with water, but in just a few days
you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 1:6-8 (NLT)
So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him,
“Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel
and restore the kingdom?”
He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to
set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere –
in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria,
and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 2:1-4 (NLT)
On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting
in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven
like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled
the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like
flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them.
And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit
and began speaking in other languages,
as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.

Acts 2:5-13 (NLT)
At that time there were devout Jews from every nation
living in Jerusalem. When they heard the loud noise,
everyone came running, and they were bewildered to hear
their own languages being spoken by the believers.
They were completely amazed.
“How can this be?” they exclaimed.
“These people are all from Galilee, and yet we hear
them speaking in our own native languages!
Here we are — Parthians, Medes, Elamites, people from Mesopotamia,
Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, the province of Asia, Phrygia,
Pamphylia, Egypt, and the areas of Libya around Cyrene,
visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism),
Cretans, and Arabs. And we all hear these people speaking
in our own languages about the wonderful things God has done!”
They stood amazed and perplexed.
“What can this mean?” they asked each other.
But others int he crowd ridiculed them, saying,
“They’re just drunk, that’s all!”

Acts 2:38-39 (NLT)
Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins
and return to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ
for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is to you,
and to your children, and even to those far away —
all who have been called by the Lord our God.”
