2020 Unfocused

Focus is Important – Focus isn’t Always Easy

Don’t you sometimes wish we had autofocus for life?

Think about the things of heaven,
not the things of earth…put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust,
and evil desires. Don’t be greedy,
for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Because of these sins,
the anger of God is coming. You used to do these things when our life was still part of this world.
But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander,
and dirty language. Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.

Colossians 3:2-9 New Living Translation (NLT)

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness,
and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

Colossians 3:12-15 (NLT)

Matthew 14

But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.”
Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat, started walking on the water, and came toward Jesus. But when he noticed the strong wind, He became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

Matthew 14:27-33 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13 New King James Version (NKJV)

When Peter realized he was sinking, he called out to Jesus.

Call on Jesus during small challenges so you are prepared for the big ones.
