“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives;
the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Matthew 7:7-8 NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION (NIV)
Do not be anxious about anything,
but in every situation, by prayer
and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:6 NEW LIVING TRANSLATION (NLT)
“Which of you, if your son asks for bread,
will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then,
though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts
to those who ask him!”
Matthew 7:9-11 NIV
Year after year this man went up from his town to worship and sacrifice to the Lord Almighty
at Shiloh, where Hophni and Phinehas, the two sons of Eli, were priests of the Lord. Whenever the day came for Elkanah to sacrifice, he would give portions of the meat to his wife Peninnah and to all her sons and daughters. But to Hannah he gave a double portion because he loved her, and the Lord had closed
her womb. Because the Lord had closed Hannah’s womb, her rival kept provoking her in order to irritate her. This went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the house of
the Lord, her rival provoked her till she wept and would not eat. Her husband Elkanah would say to her,
“Hannah, why are you weeping?
Why don’t you eat? Why are you downhearted? Don’t I mean more to you than ten sons?”
1 Samuel 1:3-8 NIV
Once when they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh, Hannah stood up. Now Eli the priest was sitting on his chair by the doorpost of the Lord’s house. In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly. And she made a vow, saying, “Lord Almighty,
if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever
be used on his head.”
1 Samuel 1:9-11 NIV
To you, Lord, I call; you are my Rock, do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who go down to the pit. Hear my cry for mercy and I call to you for help, as I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place.
Psalm 28: 1-2 NIV
Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry
for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.
Psalm 28: 6-8 NIV
