Nehemiah: Lessons in Godly Leadership Moving On

delivered by

Godly Leadership Lessons

1. Take care of the people you lead; see that justice prevails.
2. When God speaks, godly leaders listen and do what needs to be done.
3. Godly leaders redirect their people back to God.
4. Always be ready to move on to the next thing God has in store.

Joshua 14:10-12 (NIV)
“Now then, just as the Lord promised, he has kept me alive for
forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel
moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old!
I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out;
I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then.
Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day.
You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there
and there citied were large and fortified,
but, the Lord helping me, I will drive them out as he said.”

John 21:15-17 (NIV)
When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter,
“Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”
“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”
The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him a third time “Do you love me?”
He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.”
