When the music fades,
all is stripped away and I simply come,
longing just to bring something that’s of worth,
that will bless your heart.
I’ll bring you more than a song, for a song in itself
is not what you have required.
You search much deeper within, through the way things appear,
you’re looking into my heart.
-“The Heart of Worship”
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.
John 4:23-24 NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION (NIV)
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord…
Isaiah 6: 1 (NIV)
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
Isaiah 6: 1-4 (NIV)
“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”
Isaiah 6: 5 (NIV)
Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”
Isaiah 6: 6-7 (NIV)
His love is holy, His love set apart, there is no love like the love of God!
We need to wake up to the Holiness of God again and come back to the heart of worship
When we dwell on the performance, the mechanics, and that’s all we focus on, we are completely missing the point!
The heart of worship is Him. It will only ever be Him. Forever.
