God Sightings: When God Shows Up Deliverance

delivered by

There is a difference between relating to the need for a miracle and believing that God can perform the miracle.

Deliverance – the act of being set free, rescued, or saved from a dangerous, harmful, or restrictive situation

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 1:13-14 New International Version

We all need deliverance from something

I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears…
This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles…
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles…
The righteous person may have many troubles,
but the Lord delivers him from them all…”

Psalm 34:4,6,17,19 NIV

“Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up? Now when you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music,
if you are ready to fall down and worship the image
I made, very good. But if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?”

Daniel 3:14-15 NIV

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

Daniel 3:16-18 NIV

So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace.  The king’s command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and these three men, firmly tied,
fell into the blazing furnace.

Daniel 3:21-23 NIV

So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.

Acts 12:5 NIV

The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers,
bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.

Acts 12:6-7 NIV

“Put on your clothes and sandals.”
And Peter did so. “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me,” the angel told him.  Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening;
he thought he was seeing a vision.   They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it.
When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him.

Acts 12:8-10 NIV

Then Peter came to himself and said, “Now I know without a doubt that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were
hoping would happen.”

Acts 12:11 NIV

Neither human security of chains and prison walls nor  human strength and can stand in the way of God. True power doesn’t belong to the rulers of this world; it belongs to the all-powerful God who created this world.

God is NEVER intimidated by our biggest problems.

Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.

Jeremiah 32:17 NIV

What is it that you need to be delivered from today?
