I Believe … And in the life everlasting

delivered by

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.

…the holy catholic church
catholic > katholikos > universal or general
We believe that God created the church
to help us work together as the body of Christ.
church > assembly > a community of people
The local church is the hope of the world.
~Bill Hybels

the communion of saints
saint > sanctus > holy

Something or someone set apart for God’s use
We believe the church is made up of the saints,
the faithful followers of Jesus.
communion > community

The human body has many parts, but the many parts
make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.
Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves,
and some are free. But we have all been baptized
into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12: 12-13 (NLT)

…the forgiveness of sins
…for all have sinned and falls short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23

For the wages of sin is death.
but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have
eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world
to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
John 3:16-17 (NIV)

…the resurrection of the body
But our citizenship is in heaven.
And we eagerly await a Savior from there,
the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that
enables him to bring everything under his control,
will transform our lowly bodies
so that they will be like his glorious body.
Philippians 3:20-21 (NIV)

…and the life everlasting
Life everlasting begins now!
