A responsibility to feed the household
Matthew 24:45
Who then is the faithful and sensible slave whom his master put in charge of his household to give them their food at the proper time?
We see many incidents of failures and successes in Bible in this regard.
Example of Cain and Abel
Gen 4:9
Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” And he said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?”
Example of Esau and Jacob

that there be no immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal.

Joseph a man of vision
Gen 37:9

He was a man of obedience
Genesis 37:14
Then he said to him, “Go now and see about the welfare of your brothers and the welfare of the flock, and bring word back to me.” So he sent him from the valley of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.
He was a man of integrity

So Joseph found favor in his sight and became his personal servant; and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he owned he put in his charge.
He was a man of character

He was a man of credibility
Genesis 39:22
The chief jailer committed to Joseph’s charge all the prisoners who were in the jail; so that whatever was done there, he was responsible for it.
