Luke 12:19-21 (The Message)
“Self, you’ve done well! You’ve got it made and can now retire.
Take it easy and have the time of your life!”
Just then God showed up and said, “Fool! Tonight you die
and your barnful of goods – who gets it?
That’s what happens when you fill your barn with Self
and not with God.”

Luke 12:22-26 (NIV)
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat;
or about your body, what you will wear.
For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.
Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap,
they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them.
And how much more valuable you are than birds!
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?
Since you cannot do this very little thing,
why do you worry about the rest?
Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow.

It empties today of its strength.
~Corrie ten Boom

Worry
>To feel uneasy or concerned about something;
To be troubled [American Heritage Dictionary]

>To torment oneself with or suffer from disturbing
thoughts; to fret [Dictionary.com]

>To allow something to preoccupy or consume to
the point of moderate or severe distraction [Jones]

Luke 12:27-28 (NIV)
“Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin.
Yet, I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed
like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field,
which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire,
how much more will he clothe you — you of little faith!”
The more you pray, the less you panic.
The more you worship, the less you worry.
~Rick Warren

Luke 12:29-32 (The Message)
“What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied
with getting so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know
God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both
God and how he works. Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative,
God-provisions. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.
Don’t be afraid of missing out. You’re my dearest friends!
The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself.”
