Sink or Swim Floaties

delivered by

In the Christian life we have some floaties :
things designed to keep our heads above water,
to keep us from drowning

Holy Spirit = Ruach | Holy Spirit = Pnuema
wind, breath, or spirit

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you,…”

John 14:26 (ESV)

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you
may abound in hope,”

Romans 15:13 (ESV)

The Holy Spirit is our floatie
The Church is our floatie

Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.

Acts 5:42 English Standard Version (ESV)

Another floatie is our personal one on one time with God
Another floatie is serving

And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to him and said to him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” And he said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?”
And they said to him, “Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left,
in your glory.”

Mark 10: 35-37 (ESV)

Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them. And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I.
Do not be afraid.” And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith,
why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying,
“Truly you are the Son of God.”

Matthew 14:22-33 (ESV)
